Compassion, insight, connection, humor...
these are some words that describe my approach to therapy |
Anxiety, stress, bodily tension, or other distress is often our mind and body's way of telling us to pay attention or ask for help. Welcome - it's wonderful that you have taken this step toward feeling better!
As a biracial therapist, I have a unique - and personal - perspective on multicultural issues. I understand what it feels like to not belong or question where you fit in, to straddle two worlds, and to feel misunderstood or invisible. I support my clients by offering a safe, nonjudgmental space to talk about your struggles and find relief from suffering. You are not alone! |
How can therapy be helpful?
- Is anxiety, self-doubt, or negative self-talk holding you back from living the life you envisioned for yourself?
- Are you able to give compassion, love, and kindness to others, but struggle with feeling that you deserve the same?
- Do you wish you felt happier and more fulfilled with yourself or your life?
- Do you seek a safe, nonjudgmental space to make sense of the challenging times in which we live?
Therapy may be able to help you address these and other concerns. Together, let's discover why you might make the choices you do, even if they don't always feel productive. Together, let's work to better understand how your past experiences, including family dynamics, have had an impact on your current habits and relationships.
Although life can be overwhelming, it doesn’t have to stay this way! |
About me
I work with clients from all backgrounds, but specialize in working with clients of color; particularly those who identify as mixed-race/biracial and clients in interracial families and/or relationships. Using the mind-body connection and mindfulness-based techniques I can help you work on a variety of issues, including improving self-compassion, reducing day-to-day feelings of distress (anxiety, stress, sadness, etc.), and identity issues (racial, sexual orientation, gender). I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or ‘tapping’ therapy and can incorporate this into our work together. EFT is a form of energy therapy that can help clients find relief from emotional distress and/or physical pain.
Finding the right connection between you and your and therapist can be one of the most important aspects to successful therapy. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, working together to help you move through the anxious, stressed, unhappy place and uncover the more centered, authentic version of yourself that resides within. I firmly believe that each person is unique and deserves a tailored approach to their therapy. I strive to provide the time and attention that allows for greater connection, insight, and growth for each of my clients.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in the state of Massachusetts. I earned my master's degree in Professional Counseling from Lesley University and have more than 9 years of experience in the mental health field. My clinical work includes college counseling, community mental health, and private practice. I have worked as an Instructor in the Counseling Psychology master's program at Lesley University, teaching Developmental Psychology, and as a research assistant on two books: a 2017 book on Relational Cultural Therapy and a 2019 book on the complexities of talking about race and race relations.
My training includes mindfulness-based techniques, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/tapping therapy, Focusing, Relational Cultural Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), sand tray therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Professional memberships include the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association and the American Counseling Association.

Services & fees
I offer individual therapy for adults. Therapy sessions are 45 minutes in length and are by appointment only. The fee for a
45 minute individual therapy session is $175. Typically, most people attend therapy once per week; longer or more frequent sessions may be available depending on the issues you are working on and the length of time we have been working together. Payment for therapy is due at the time of our session and may be made by credit/debit card.

I do not currently accept insurance. However, I can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance company in case they can reimburse you for a portion of the fee. Working outside of an insurance-based system gives you more privacy, freedom, and control of your mental health treatment. When paying privately, no diagnosis is required, and your treatment goals and session limits are not dictated by insurance, but rather by your own progress and wishes. Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about the benefits of paying out-of-pocket may also be helpful.
